What we fund
Our purpose is timeless - to improve the health of all New Zealanders through funding the highest quality medical research of all kinds.
We are the largest independent funder of medical research in New Zealand and since 1955, we have awarded over $88,000,000 of funding for research led out of the Auckland and Northland region.
This funding support extends across the entire spectrum of medical and health science research. Every research project is carefully selected following a robust and contestable criteria. This ensures that our funding is used with maximum benefit to the New Zealand health system and to the many thousands of kiwis in need of a cure, a prevention, a medical innovation or simply a greater hope for the future.
Beyond these projects we offer a range of fellowships, travel grants, doctoral scholarships, awards and funds.
More information about these can be found on our applications page.
