About the Event

In 2025, AMRF proudly marks 70 years of funding groundbreaking medical research and the awarding of over $100,000,000 to dedicated medical and health science researchers. We are pleased to be hosted at the Auckland University of Technology's North Campus where there is ample paid parking. See details below and in your registration confirmation email.

Professor John Windsor, acclaimed pancreatic surgeon, researcher and entrepreneur

Professor John Windsor is a scientist, entrepreneur and leader, specialising in the pancreas and pancreatic surgery. John will share highlights of his career and show how new approaches have been developed through combining basic, clinical and bioengineering science to prevent multiple organ failure, the leading cause of death from acute pancreatitis.

Associate Professor Gary Cheung & Dr Rosemary Frey, experts in the End-of-Life Choice Act 2019 and improving palliative care

This pair of distinguished researchers are experts in palliative care and the End-of-Life Choice Act 2019Rosemary’s research career has focused on how to reduce suffering at the end of life and seeks to empower teams delivering this service with the knowledge and confidence to deliver a quality palliative care experience. Garyspecialises in old age psychiatry and will present his research into increasing understanding of all factors influencing a person’s experience as they near their final days of life, along with the complexities of assisted dying.

Parking: Plentiful free parking available on campus after 6pm in Lot 2 - the first carpark on left when turning in from the "Main Entrance" sign - 90 Akoranga Drive, click for location and info. (From Lot 2, walk past the AUT Sports & Fitness, veer right towards the main entrance of the AZ/AF building - says AZ on the front - walk through the foyer which joins to AF building to find Room AF114 towards the back of the building).
