Professor John Windsor, acclaimed pancreatic surgeon, researcher and entrepreneur
Professor John Windsor is a scientist, entrepreneur and leader, specialising in the pancreas and pancreatic surgery. John will share highlights of his career and show how new approaches have been developed through combining basic, clinical and bioengineering science to prevent multiple organ failure, the leading cause of death from acute pancreatitis.
Associate Professor Gary Cheung & Dr Rosemary Frey, experts in the End-of-Life Choice Act 2019 and improving palliative care

This pair of distinguished researchersare experts in palliative care and the End-of-Life Choice Act 2019. Rosemary’s research career has focused on how to reduce suffering at the end of life and seeks to empower teams delivering this service with the knowledge and confidence to deliver a quality palliative care experience. Garyspecialises in old age psychiatry and will present his research into increasing understanding of all factors influencing a person’s experience as they near their final days of life, along with the complexities of assisted dying.

Speaker Series 1 videos: Dr Diana Sarfati, NZ Director-General of Health, cancer epidemiologist, and eminent health services researcher; Distinguished Professor Dame Jane Harding, a world leader in neonatal research and clinical practice; and Dr Richard Frith, neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist who introduced the first CPAP machine in New Zealand.

Speaker Series 3: A/Prof Amy Chan, a leader in respiratory health research using digital technology and big data; and Dr Tim Angeli-Gordon, an expert in gastrointestinal physiology developing diagnostic devices andinterventional therapeutics for GI disorders.
